My name is Terry Hammond. I started at BangBANG June 2019 as a drop-in looking for more training and adjustments in CrossFit. What I received was more adjustments in my life all the way around the board.

This gym and its members have taught me how to serve in all aspects of life. I was looking so hard to serve whether it was military or however. I found volunteer firefighting, but I needed support because I have a past. Haley and her team have always stuck up for me and believed in me through everything. They’ve written letters of character, worked on me for my aches and pains and talked me through bad times. Now I’m living my dream as a career firefighter for Gantt Fire Department, all from the help and support, mentally and physically from these wonderful people in our gym community.

I cannot express the amount of love I have for our wonderful owner, Haley Gann, she is the backbone and the most thoughtful person I’ve ever met in my entire life. CrossFit BangBANG will train you all around mind, body and soul! Thank you Fam! Love y’all.

"I loved the super knowledgeable coaches. I loved the gym space and most of all the Community was dope!"

I hated normal gyms and just working out by myself, so I thought back to college when I did CrossFit for a couple months and remembered how much I loved it. I googled “CrossFit gyms near me” and CrossFit BangBANG came up. It happened to be the closest one to me, so in late July of 2021 I went to my first class and loved it!

I loved having a workout that was already programmed. I loved the super knowledgeable coaches. I loved the gym space and most of all the Community was dope! From the moment I walked in, I wasn’t a stranger to anybody because so many people came up to talk to me and THAT was incredible. I felt like I belonged there.

Needless to say, I haven’t looked back! I have been going multiple times a week since then and I’m moving so much better, lifting bigger weights than I have in the past and I’m in the best shape I’ve been in for a long time. I started at 214 pounds when I got there and I just hit 189! 25 pounds gone and I’m not done!

I love this gym and the community. I’m proud to be a BANGER!

"I never understood why people get so "hooked" on CrossFit, but after just a few workouts I was definitely hooked!"

I started in June of 2021 and until then had never completed a CrossFit workout. From day one Daniel, Haley, and the other members have welcomed me and my husband, Joe, with open arms.


I never understood why people get so “hooked” on CrossFit, but after just a few workouts I was definitely hooked. It’s not just the challenge of completing a tough workout, but it really is the PEOPLE and the amazing vibe that these coaches have created. There is ZERO judgement, and ALL encouragement no matter the level. If that’s not enough, the knowledge, tools, and TRUE PASSION, that is available to help you grow and be a healthier human is unreal!


Every workout I leave feeling better, stronger, and more confident in the rest of life. Pushing myself and seeing what my body can do in the gym, really does make me feel like I can push myself in other areas of life.


Bottom line, This place and these people really do change lives for the better, and you would be doing yourself a disservice by not experiencing it for yourself.

I came into CrossFit BangBANG in June of 2019 with very little experience in fitness and community in South Carolina. The staff at Bang Bang has taught me so much about fitness and how to listen to my body. The members have taught me so much about being a part of a community.


Joining the Bang Bang family has been one of the best decisions I have made yet. They have not only helped myself, but my entire family I have 2 kids 18 and 16 who love CrossFit and a 9 year old itching to join the classes.

"CrossFit is merely a conduit; the culture here is to equip and train athletes of any skill set."

I find that I am pretty critical of myself. I am constantly in awe of the amazing athletes and instructors here, and often, it’s easy to start to feel discouraged among such greatness. But at the 2020 Open, I got to achieve something that I am sincerely proud of; I completed my first scaled workout in 20.3! I am not saying it was pretty–but I did it, and now my scorecard hangs on my fridge, because, why not? It serves as a reminder to me on the days when I start to feel disheartened.

BangBANG came into my life through a good friend at church, a back injury, and a difficult time in life. I had never heard of CrossFit before 2016, and it’s not an exaggeration to say that it took somewhere around 22 minutes for me to work up the courage to walk in the doors. But I am so glad I did! I have met people and been a part of things that I would never trade.

Due to a very premature birth, I have mild Cerebral Palsy. I spent my childhood in physical therapy, braces, casts, wheelchairs, walkers, and recovering from surgery. As a result, balance will always be elusive, and is more of a challenge than ever before due to Rheumatoid Arthritis. Now that I’m in my thirties, I find that my own fear can be more of my personal disability than CP or RA.

My secret confession is that I am afraid of falling down all the time. My spacial awareness is most likely different from yours. I have to scream at my legs to make them do what I need them to do, and being perpetually off-balance makes the world feel unsafe. It would be easy to box myself into a diagnosis and say that certain physical feats were forever off-limits. But BangBANG doesn’t accept that. Because of BangBANG, I get to try new things all the time, such as box jumping. Because of the intentional care and personalized efforts of this box, I get to be around people who understand how my body moves and works. Because of the genuine kindness of fellow members, I get to experience encouragement, no matter how small the accomplishment appears.

I sincerely thank God every single day for giving me the blessing of BangBANG. CrossFit is merely a conduit; the culture here is to equip and train athletes of any skill set. BangBANG goes the extra mile and says that good workouts and heavy lifts are not the main goal. Looking ripped is not the main goal; the ultimate goal is to empower people and help everyone live a life of guts over fear. Health and fitness can be achieved by any person, in any season and with all abilities.

I am grateful that BangBANG took a chance on me, and I hope that when I do achieve things–big or small–y’all know that it’s a group effort. I am inspired by this box and its wonderful people. Without my adaptive abilities, I doubt I’d be here; therefore, I am 100 percent certain that CP is worth it, even on the bad days, simply because it led me to BangBANG.

"I have never been greeted with anything but a smile."

In March of this year to say I was out of shape is an understatement. I would literally be short of breath walking up my stairs and tying my shoes. As an former athlete this was foreign to me. CrossFit gave me my life back.

The workouts are hard, but scaled to something challenging but doable. The coaches are knowledgeable and caring. I have never been greeted with anything but a smile. It gave me the same feeling as been in college and going to workout with my teammates. This was a feeling that I gave up on a long time ago and to get it back is priceless.

The benefit of athletics in addition to the team support is the ability to leave everything at the door and focus on nothing else but the workout for an hour, allowing stress and frustrations to fade away and simply be in the moment. BangBANG has also given me that gift.

Finally, the desire to come back day in and day out. My current goal is to make it at least three times a week. With other places I have been I would miss a day that would turn to a week then a month then the training had stopped. With BangBANG when I miss a work out, I “miss it,” I am upset that I didn’t make it in and that feeling dose not go away. It helps me coming back for more. Even on burpee and hill run days!

I’ve been at BangBANG since the summer of 2016. Over the years it has become so much more than just a gym. When I first started coming to BangBANG I was navigating a lot personally- I think sometimes we can put ourselves in a box without even realizing it. And then one day you meet a wild tribe that tells you you can do life differently and challenge yourself everyday. That was BangBANG for me.


I swear CrossFit has a way of making you think about your entire life differently. We do these hard workouts, leave our blood and guts out on the floor with our friends and realize that we’re way tougher than we thought we were. So then we take these big scary goals and go after them in life too.


I’m at BangBANG because I see the good at work. “God pulled you out of the pit so you could go back in and get more people out,” and to me that is BangBANG to it’s core. You wanna learn to squat? We got you. You wanna do something that builds character and firm butt? We got you there too! You wanna find some friends that wanna live a long healthy life and build an amazing community? We the perfect fit. I love this place because it’s helped me grow so much more than just muscles this house is so important because I truly believe if you go in with a willing heart to lay it all out there you’ll come out on the other side a better more badass version of yourself.

CrossFit BangBANG has meant growth—physically, mentally, and emotionally. I’ve learned proper movement, proper mobility, and more importantly…grace.


I’m not the best athlete. Not even close. But having the opportunity to train, learn, and grow into a better athlete alongside some pretty amazing people has kept me coming back day after day. This place has seen me sweat. It’s seen me cry. (It’s seen me tear my ACL (; —not because of CrossFit fyi.) Yet, BangBANG has helped turn these obstacles into stepping stones for my improvement. It’s been home for the past 6 years and hopefully for many years to come.
